Thursday's Kids, Tweens, and Teens: Food and Color

Hi Family, Friends, and Fans,

How are you this week?

We are sorry we missed you yesterday!  We were having issues with our blogs.

We've also been really busy getting our Chron Blog: Mad About Town up and running, and Train Wreck Mommy is still under the weather (and guess who is sneezing and coughing now?  Super Mad Max).  We just need to make it to summer break!

Be sure to visit our Mad About Town blog today and read all about the theme: FOOD and COLOR.  Have you made a food color wheel lately?

Share with others, and we look forward to your comments!

Here I am above responding to Mommy saying "Kiwi Face"... which of course is related to GREEN on the color wheel.

If you make a food color wheel, be sure to take photos!  You can email us your photos too (see our Contact Page), and let us know if you would give us permission to share your photos on one of our blogs!

Tuesday's Tots and Wee Ones: Family-Friendly Restaurants

Hi Family, Friends, and Fans,

How is your week so far?

Train Wreck Mommy is still feeling sick ... My Hero Daddy is now sick (but getting over it), and I'm basically holding down the fort.

But Train Wreck Mommy was nice enough to help write our blog today.  You can find us over at our Chron Blog: Mad About Town.

Be sure to share with others, and let us know what you think!  (On this blog or the Chron blog).

Mad for Monday (Max's Weekend Update): Great Grandma, Nature Trails, and More!

Hi Family, Friends, and Fans,

How was YOUR weekend?

I have to apologize for last week.  Mommy wasn't feeling well ... so that affected me of course, and we weren't able to blog at the end of the week.  But I hope you caught us on our Houston Chronicle Blog: Mad About Town.  Be sure to share with others and leave your comments!  What do you think so far?

On Friday, I went with Gramby and Pops to visit Great Grandma A.  I just wanted to have a "Grandpa" Walker race with her!  She wasn't as interested though ... hmm, sore loser maybe??  Haha, love you GG A!

Haha.  Look at my little man legs!

See yah, Great Grandma A!  Thanks for the nice visit.

On Saturday I went with Train Wreck Mommy and My Hero Daddy to the Houston Arboretum to "walk" the nature trails (well, I don't know about you, but I like to "roll" the nature trails.)

The Houston Arboretum also has a Discovery Room for kids.  I loved finding a puzzle with door latches!

Rodeo Roundup!

Hi Family, Friends, and Fans,

We are bringing you a different post this Wednesday.  We're catching up on all our events last week (Spring Break) ... so today, what you've been waiting for: Rodeo Roundup.

On Saturday I went with Train Wreck Mommy, My Hero Daddy, and Gramby and Pops to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.  This is one of my favorite events of the year!  You may remember my first Rodeo experience last year: Deep in the Heart of Texas.  It's a huge event in Houston, and if you've never been (or you are not from Houston) ... it's definitely worth a visit (to the Rodeo and to Houston!).  Our experience and photos only tell a small (but fun) experience (afterall, the experience is with me, Mad Max).

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family
Train Wreck Mommy's favorite photo (and her favorite cowboy).

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family
BABY LAMB!  (As you may know, my Super Nursery is all about lambs).  (This is us at the petting zoo portion of the Rodeo).

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family
Notice, Train Wreck Mommy did NOT buy me cowboy boots .... umm.  Okay, next year I WILL be walking.  Mommy said I could get boots then.

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family
Baby chicks!  We are vegan!  We won't eat you.

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family
I have no words for this thing.  What is it you ask?  Is it the Easter Bunny?  A donkey?  A mule?  A creepy man in a costume?

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family
Easter Bunny.  Obviously.  By the way, we took a lot of photos around the children's area / animals, but there is much more to the Rodeo!  Be sure to check out their website.

Texas Longhorn.  'Nuff said.

Gramby and Pops.  Love you.  Even if you scare me sometimes (look at my face!).

Baby piglets!  Poor Train Wreck Mommy (the pig) trapped in the metal thing ... forced to breast feed.

Baby lambs!

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family
Okay, this was definitely the highlight of the day.  LOOK.  AT.  US.  We will share the front view of this photo soon.  Daddy and Mino in chaps!

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family
Hey, who put the creepy guy in my sweet ride?

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family
Passed out with the creepy guy after a long day at the Rodeo (aka my new friend, Buddy (a puppet Gramby bought me at one of the Rodeo shops).  Love you, Buddy!

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family
Don't worry.  I definitely woke up for lunch at Paulie's.  But why do I only end up with bananas and peanut butter bread?

Until next time cowgirls .... look for Mad Max in cowboy boots.

Mad for Monday (Max's Weekend Update): OKC Trip and Houston Chron Blog

Hi Family, Friends, and Fans,

We can't believe Spring Break is over!  We had such a fun-filled Spring Break that we will have to change up our blog posts some this week.

Today we will bring you our OKC trip (Oklahoma City Trip: 2nd Annual Rockets Road Game) and information about our Houston Chronicle blog: Mad About Town going live TODAY.  (Skip to the end for more information on that).

OKC Trip:

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family / Tara Johnson
This was my FIRST plane ride (finally).  Mommy and I were pulled aside at security after a "suspicious substance" was found on our hands!  We had to go in a special room and had a full body search.  I told them, "Do you know who I am?  Mad Max."

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family / Tara Johnson
In OKC.  I'm pointing out some art (obviously).

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family / Tara Johnson
OKC was actually really nice.  Clean.  Friendly people.  Fairly empty.  Things to do for a few days.  I didn't have to resort to the bottle too much.  This is Bricktown in OKC (somewhat similar to the Riverwalk in San Antonio).  We were able to walk everywhere in OKC because we stayed Downtown at a nice hotel: The Skirvin Hilton (turned out it was the SAME Hotel the Houston Rockets stayed at!  We even saw a few Coaches and such but no players.  Well, I, Mad Max, was the only playa).

Here I am with Mommy at the Myriad Gardens.  Their park and gardens were so nice!  This was probably our favorite stop in OKC (besides of course the Rockets game).

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family / Tara Johnson
Still at the Myriad Gardens (as are the next several photos).

Notice OKC's one big building behind us.

They have some great performance space at this park!

I'm slightly pooped after the Myriad Gardens ... unfortunately that means I slept through our visit to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

Train Wreck Mommy didn't take too many photos at the art museum because well ... it's an art museum and generally you can't ... (plus I was asleep).  But she did snap a few for me of my favs.  Here we are above by Warhol's work (notice the VEGGIE soup)!

Train Wreck Mommy loves abandoned buildings.

Now what you've been waiting for ... Houston Rocket's game!

We had nose bleed seats, but they were the best available "My Hero Daddy" could get the DAY they went out sale.  Crazy!  But it was better for me ...because it was my bedtime at the end of the 1st Quarter (and I slept through most of the game).  Don't worry ... I woke up to see the end of a very great game, and the Rockets won!

Bye OKC!  We had a great time, and our 2nd Annual Rockets Road Game trip was awesome.  Here I am enjoying some barf bag fun on the way home.

What city do you think we should go to next year for our Rockets Road Game trip?

Our blog, Mad About Town, is going live TODAY on the Houston Chronicle site.  The actual web address is:

http://blog.chron.com/madabouttown/

At some point today (Monday), they will make the blog go live ...so if it doesn't work right away - check back!  Be sure to share with others and leave comments.

Will you be visiting Mad About Town?
