Fun Friday: Sadie's Week Five Update

Hi Friends,

From Sadie: How was your week?  What plans do you have this weekend?  Can you believe it's almost December?  Are you doing anything holiday-related this weekend?  We plan to go visit Gramby and Pops and go to their local Holiday Parade in Pearland.  Do you have any local holiday parades that you go to?

Sadie's Week Five Update:

Weight: I'm thinking about the same as last week - around 8 lb is a guess?

Height: Maybe a tad longer than birth?

Sleep: I mentioned last week that Mommy is trying to do better with my scheduling, but well - she is failing miserably.  Hah!  Joking, Mommy.  I'm ALMOST 6 weeks now, so she's really going to lock it down then she says ... I'm awake more and more during the day - most of the time during the appropriate time (after eating).

I mentioned last week that I have a new nighttime routine (not ideal Mommy and Daddy says, but it works for now)... I do bath, story, and prayer with the family (then Max gets his bath, story, and prayer).  Then I get to sleep in my bassinet downstairs with Mommy and Daddy for a few hours.  (Since I'm a big cry baby ... but actually really I just want to watch Netflix too, okay?).  Then I go upstairs with Mommy and I (mostly) sleep in my bassinet (I have a portable Moses basket that is a part of my bassinet - ideal!: Kolcraft Contours Classique).

Mommy and Daddy said my biggest sleep problem is my (lack of) ability to hold in my paci.  Can anyone help me?  Mommy is threatening paci bootcamp.  Any tips?  She is thinking about ordering a WubbaNub, although I can't really sleep with that.  And I can't really hold anything yet.  So ...well, back to square one.

Diet: Mommy's Milk

Clothes: Okay now officially some of my newborn clothes are too small to wear (tears, Mommy says).  But we are only talking about some of the Carter's clothes, but they make really tiny newborn clothes.  The outfit I'm wearing in this photo shoot is from Target (the top is from Great Grandma A, and the "skinny jeans" are from Mommy).

Baby Gear: As I mentioned above, we are getting great use out of my bassinet.

Crying: About the same as before ...but I have been extra gasssssssss - y lately.  I think all that funny (bad) food Mommy ate over the Thanksgiving holidays.

Likes: I liked meeting all of my relatives over the holidays!  I also like tracking and following more.

Postpartum: From Mommy - I really treated myself to all kinds of treats over the Thanksgiving Holiday, but my maternity clothes aren't any tighter.  I'm thinking I need some new clothes as "in between clothes."  Any tips?

Milestones: From Sadie - I sure did have a week of milestones.  Leading up to Week 5 ... The biggest milestones was I celebrated my One Month Birthday and first Thanksgiving!  I also met many relatives and friends from out of town (see my previous blog posts this week).  And I went to Mimi and Grampi's for the first time the day after Thanksgiving.

What is Max Up To This Week?: As you can see above ... Max has been making art, working on his colors and shapes, and well - hiding.

My brother also has a new saying he loves to say ... "Mommy poop... Sissy poop ... Daddy poop ...." and so on.  Basically he likes to explain how everyone poops.  Well, thanks for telling us!

How Much Scotch Did I Need In My Sippy Cup?

Hi Friends,

How much Scotch did I need in my sippy cup over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend?  Well, to keep up with Tia Tam ... I needed to keep it full.  Do you need a drink during the holidays and family time ... ?  Or do you drink and celebrate during the holidays and family time?  Or both?

How do you celebrate?  Stay home and bond ... or go out and bond (or avoid!).  If you went out ... where did you go?  We thought about going to the Houston Zoo Lights ... but well, this is the Train Wreck Family we are talking about.  If it was up to Mommy, we would be all over town.  But you try getting several Train Wrecks to agree on something!  (Luckily, Saturday night they agreed on Star Pizza.  Crust?  Yes, please).

Here are a few highlights from this past Friday and Saturday (Thanksgiving Day Weekend) with Family!  Enjoy!  Bottoms up!  (All drinking photos were NOT included ... hey, this is the Internet afterall!).

Making my Superhero cape with Tia Tam, Mommy, and Gramby.  Obviously.

Hey, who killed Frosty the Snowman?

We also went to Mimi and Grampi's.  Sadie met several new people!  "Auntie" V above.

Auntie M.  (And thank you for my new PJs and Sadie's new clothes from Carter's!)  Sadie also met "Uncle" M and Uncle B, but they somehow avoided photos.  They better have also stayed away from my sippy cup!

Is Squeaky (yes, she squeaks) eating enough?  I think so.

And Aunt M came to visit on Saturday (along with Uncle D, Cousin R and S).  She tried to steal Super Sadie.  No.  Joke.  Big Brother there to protect you!  I think Train Wreck Mommy would have easily traded Super Sadie for Aunt M's Super Sweet Potatoes (thanks for the personal dish for "I'm always so hungry!" Mommy).

Ignore my off the shoulder moment, please.

We had a lot of visitors on Saturday!  Tia Tam, Uncle Mike, Gramby, and Pops came by too.

Tia Tam, Super Sadie, and some Crazy Lady.  Joking!  "Auntie" Mers, R, and Baby N came to visit too!  Thanks for coming over to play.  How did Train Wreck Mommy not get a photo of R and N?

Whew.  After all of those photos, I need a drink.

next stop: Looking Back (Thanksgiving Day Part II) and Monk's Checkup

Hi Friends,

And now we bring you Thanksgiving Part II (be sure to scroll below for Thanksgiving Part I aka Happy One Month Birthday Sadie).

We'd love to hear about your Thanksgiving Celebrations!?

And don't miss our "next stop" at the bottom of this post.

(All Image Credit Below: Mad Max and Family / Tara J).

Thanksgiving Part II

Daddy and Sissy are having some serious time before the Houston Texans first Thanksgiving Day game.  And boy ... was that a serious game.  10 and 1!

Gramby's fab Thanksgiving table set up ...  (by the way, Train Wreck Mommy meant to take photos of all of the food ... hello!  Ahem... but don't fear - we have more planned when it comes to Holiday Food ideas to share with you soon!  We also have feedback to share and some more ideas of Holiday items from Whole Foods).

With some help from me, Mad Max ... do you like the Turkey Hand nameplates I made?

Sissy and Tia ... do you like Sissy's Turkey Day style (Carter's)?

After the Texans game, I enjoyed some golf time with Pops.

Photo shoot with Tia Tam on Sissy's new blanket from "Auntie" Lori.  Thank you (from Sissy)!

Tia Tam, Uncle M, and Sissy.

I really bonded with Uncle M, but here I am just practicing CHEESE (I don't see him much since he lives in NYC).

We also celebrated our First Annual (and maybe Last Annual) "Fake Christmas" aka Tia Tam and Uncle M are going to his family's house for Christmas this year in Penn, but they spent Thanksgiving with us.  But we (all of us but Tia Tam) decided it was really Tia Tam's fake birthday because she got all of the gifts!  Isn't it Baby Jesus's birthday?  Confused.  Needless to say, Tia Tam and Uncle M got me a cool gift - Superhero Cape!!  I made this with Tia Tam on Friday after Thanksgiving.  I'm going to finish it soon with Gramby and Mommy.  Thank you!

Sissy got her first Olivia book - about dancing.  Of course.

And what Tia Tam has been waiting for .... her toaster!  Mommy and I really out did ourselves though... not only did we find a PINK toaster, but we found a toaster that says Bella (her doggie) from Target.

Did you watch sports on Thanksgiving?

Anyone else have a Fake Christmas?

next stop

What are you doing this weekend?  Mommy and I are taking Monk (my monkey) in for a checkup at The Health Museum (their Teddy Bear Checkup Event).  We are really looking forward to it.  If you are in or around Houston with a young one, we suggest you go check it out - begins at 10 am!

I'm thinking Monk is going to get a clean vegan bill of health, no?

Tuesday's Tiny Ones and Tots: Happy One Month Birthday Sadie!

Hi Friends,

My sister, Super Sadie, celebrated her One Month Birthday on Thanksgiving Day (you're getting up there, kid) ... !  We couldn't ask for a better Gobble Gobble Day.

We have a few highlights (lots of photos) to share.  How was your Thanksgiving Day?  (Much more to come on our Thanksgiving Weekend with Family and Friends).

Don't you love Sissy's 1 Month Sticker?  It's from LucyDarlingShop on Etsy.  They have great ones to pick from!  Mommy picked the bird cage ones for Sissy.  I think it fits her perfect (and matches her baby book).  Mommy will do a better job of getting more photos and clearer shots too.  We were in a hurry that day (Thanksgiving morning).  We may take some more photos this week since Train Wreck Mommy forgot one of the props.

Sissy was lucky because a tutu that Tia got her from Target matched her One Month Sticker perfectly!

Okay, so we are having some major formatting issues on Blogger today ... anyone else having trouble lately?  So we are going to stop the blog here.  We will start a new blog with the rest of our Thanksgiving Day photos (and we'll share our "next stop" for the weekend).  Stay tuned!

Fun Monday: Sadie's Week Four Update

Hi Friends,

Sadie here ... How are you?  How was your Thanksgiving / Holiday Weekend?

We have so much to catch you up on!  So because of that ... we are not bringing you our normal post today.  Today we are bringing you my "Sadie's Week Four Update" (that I usually bring you on Friday).  I turned 4 Weeks last Monday ... One Month on Thanksgiving Day ... and today I am officially 5 Weeks - whew!

So this week we are really just catching up on lots that has been going on over here that we have to share with you.  We look forward to hearing what you are up to also!

Sadie's Week Four Update:

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family / Tara J

Weight: No idea!  I'm definitely turning into a chubby piglet, but I don't think I'm up to 8 lbs yet.

Height: No idea!  Maybe about the same as my 2 week appt?

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family / Tara J

Sleep:  Mommy is trying to do better with my daytime and nighttime routine.  She's trying to get me to sleep more in my bassinet during the day (downstairs with her and Max), and we have a new routine at night that we've mainly focused on post-Week 4.  More to come on that!

Diet: Mommy's milk ... and the timing is about the same, but it's slowly starting to move away from 2 hours... sometimes even over 3!

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family / Tara J

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family / Tara J

Clothes: About the same as Week 3.

Baby Gear Love: I'm starting to throw up more - joy.  So Mommy (and family) is definitely going through lots of bibs, burp clothes, and blankets.  I just can't control myself when it comes to my grub!

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family / Tara J

Crying: About the same ... but crying MUCH less at bath time (and even for some clothes and diaper changes).  This isn't new, but I don't think I mentioned it before ... I cry in my sleep!  It keeps them on their toes.  Although Mommy is really figuring it out.

Likes: I like being awake during the day a lot more now.  I like looking around at things.  I also like smiling in my sleep ... esp after I just ate!

Postpartum: From Mommy - I think the biggest thing is I really over did it a few days before Sadie's 4 Week Birthday at a Birthday Party with Max.  And I've probably been doing and lifting more than I'm suppose to ... so Sadie's birth wound aka my c-sections is hurting, but nothing too terrible!  I'm trying to do a better job of letting people lift Max (and other things heavier than Sadie).

Milestones: I (Sadie) had my first trip to Memorial City Mall, and I went with Mommy and Max to Gramby and Pops to spend the day with Gramby and meet Bailey Bean for the first time.  I had my first outing alone with Mommy and Max to take Max to the doctor (for his flu shot - booster shot).  And I got to meet Great Grandma Alcancia - she came to visit!  I stayed alone with Daddy for the first time, and Mommy had "Mommy and Me" time with Max  - they went to a birthday party.  Do they ever slow down around here?

Image Credit: Mad Max and Family / Tara J
What is Max Up To This Week?: My big brother is quickly turning into quite a talker ... his biggest milestone daily is his talking!  He almost can repeat anything you say now.  I better watch my vocab around him aka my squeaking.

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy One Month to Sadie

Hi Friends,

Happy Thanksgiving!  Daddy's favorite holiday is finally here ... (or rather, can you believe it's already here?).  How are you celebrating?  What are you thankful for this year?

And ... Happy One Month Birthday to my Super Sissy - Sadie!  Stay tuned for special photos from her 4 Week Birthday / One Month Birthday.  Speaking of photos ... we received Sadie's newborn / Family photos back from our super photographer, Erin Carlyle Photography.  We'll be sharing some favs with you soon!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here are (just a few) things we are Thankful for today ...

1) A happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving Weekend with Family and Friends (especially Tia and Uncle M in from out of town ... and Sadie getting to meet some of Daddy's relatives that are in from out of town).
2) Houston TEXAN's first Thanksgiving Day game!
3) Fake Christmas with Tia and Uncle M.
4) Delicious Food.  I prefer "caa" which can mean chips, fries, and more.  Oh, and stay tuned for some more on our real Thanksgiving Weekend dishes!  Mommy even cooked (pigs flying - pigs flying).
5) That everyone can poop.  My new favorite word.

Oh, and 6) Super Sadie's FIRST Thanksgiving!  We love you, Sissy.Ce

Did you make any Thanksgiving items this year?  I made some Thanksgiving "Tofurkey" hands with Gramby and Mommy.  Easy to make!  All you need are colors, paper, scissors, and glue.

Happy Thanksgiving!
