What is Your Next Stop?: Cherry Festival!

Hi Family, Friends, and Fans,

One of my favorite things is enjoying festivals in my community / in the city with my Train Wreck family.

This coming weekend (like many weekends in and around Houston) has plenty to offer.  So what are the festivals celebrating this weekend?  Well ... for one ... who doesn't love food?  And cherries at that!  I'm sure kids of all ages will enjoy this summer treat including me, Mr. Mad Max.

Whole Foods is having their third annual Cherry Fest in stores this weekend July 13 - 15 (12 pm - 5 pm).

I saw this sign about the Cherry Fest with my Mama and Dada last weekend (and the children's activity at the Montrose location) last weekend:

Whole Foods was kind enough to send this information to us, thank you!:

What: Celebrate summer with a cherry on top! Join any Whole Foods Market Houston or Sugar Land stores for its third annual Cherry Fest, from Friday, July 13 – Sunday, July 15. Cherries will be in abundance, so now is the time to indulge in these delicious, peak-of-season treats. Whether you want something savory or sweet, or simply like diving into a heaping bowl of chilled cherries you will be able to experience it all during Cherry Fest!  There will be plenty of great store activities as well as plump, delicious cherries to taste either one-by one or in the many different cherry-licious recipes that will be available.  Don’t miss out!

Where: All Houston and Sugar Land Whole Foods Market locations

701 Waugh Dr.; 2955 Kirby Dr.; 4004 Bellaire Blvd.; 6401 Woodway Dr.; and 11145 Westheimer; 15900 Southwest Freeway

A great family activity to do before or after the event (with older kids) would be to do a recipe together.  Here are some suggestions from Whole Foods:
You can also try making art inspired by cherries after the event.  Fruit is great practice for looking and drawing (still life!).  Put out a bowl of cherries, try some oil pastels (or even crayons for the younger ones) and practice looking and drawing.  Draw what you see!

So what do you think?  Will you be heading to the Cherry Fest this weekend?  Or a different festival?  What is your next stop?
